Keynote Speaker for Closing Ceremony

Laurence Tubiana is Ambassador and Special Representative of the French Government for COP21. A Professor at Sciences-Po Paris and Columbia University, she is Founder and Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) and President of the French Development Agency (AFD) Board.

Amadou Allahoury Diallo is High Commissioner (Minister) at the Niger President Office for the National Strategy for Food Security and Agriculture Development called 3N Initiative. M. Allahoury has served for two years as a member of the steering committee of High Level Panel of Experts (HLPE) for food security and nutrition.

Bill Payne is Dean of the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources (CABNR) at the University of Nevada, Reno. His research has focused on efficient water and nutrient use in cropping systems and appropriate soil and crop management under marginal conditions. He has advised charitable foundations, national and international agencies, and foreign governments on food security and sustainable agriculture.

Plenary 2
Mark Howden is Chief Research Scientist at CSIRO and Theme Leader for Adaptive Primary Industries, Enterprises and Communities. He is an expert in the area of climate change and agriculture, working with rural industries to adapt to Australia's changing climate. Hervé Le Treut is the Director of IPSL and Member of the French Académie des Sciences. He was a Coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC AR4 WGI. He is the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Paris July 2015 Conference “Our Common Future Under Climate Change”.
 
Pete Smith is Professor of Soils and Global Change at the Institute of Biological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Aberdeen (Scotland, UK), Science Director of Scotland's Climate Change Centre of Expertise (ClimateXChange) and Director of Food Systems for the Scottish Food Security Alliance-Crops.
 
Ren Wang serves as Assistant Director-General of the Agriculture and Consumer Protection Department at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Ren Wang is the FAO coordinator for CSA.

Mercedes Bustamante is Associate Professor at the Department of Ecology of the University of Brasilia. She was a Coordinating Lead Author of Chapter 11 of the IPCC AR5 WG III. Holger Meinke is the Director of the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) and Head, School of Land & Food at UTAS. Holger pioneered operational climate risk management for agriculture in Australia and internationally.
John Roy Porter is Professor of Agriculture and Climate Change at NRI. His main contribution has been multi-disciplinary and collaborative work in the response of arable crops, energy crops and complex agro-ecosystems to their environment with an emphasis on climate change and ecosystem services. Pablo Tittonell is Chair Professor of the Farming Systems Ecology Group (University of Wageningen UR). He holds external Professorships at the Ecole doctorale Sibaghe (University of Montpellier, France) and at the National University of Lomas de Zamora, Buenos Aires.
; Sonja Vermeulen as CCAFS Head of Research, helps the team to produce research outputs that synthesize across the themes and regions, and to engage with policy processes and partners, particularly at the global level. She earlier served as Director of the Program on Business and Sustainable Development at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).

Parallel 1
Pramod Aggarwal currently leads the South Asia Regional Program for the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS). He was an author for the IPCC 4th Assessment Report and a reviewer for the IPCC 5th Assessment Report. Paulina Aldunce is Deputy Director of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Natural Resources at Universidad de Chile. She was Lead Author of the IPCC report on Managing the Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate Change Adaptation (SREX) and Review Editor of IPCC WGII Fifth Report of Chapter 12, Technical Summary and the Synthesis Report (SYR).
Imelda Bacudo currently works as Senior Regional Advisor for the GIZ in supporting the ASEAN-German Programme on Response to Climate Change (GAP CC). She has over 15 years' experience in the areas of biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, and conservation finance in the Philippines, Latin America, Uganda  and Southeast Asia, working with NGOs, national governments, and international  Niels Gøtke has been responsible for the Bioeconomy and International Affairs within the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation since 2011. He is also Head of the Nordic joint Committee for Agricultural and Food Research, Chairman of the Nordic Bioeconomy Initiative and  the Chair of the FACCE JPI Governing Board

 

Louise Jackson
is Professor and Specialist in Cooperative Extension at the Department of Land, Air and Water Resources at the University of California, Davis. Her lab-group (Jackson Soil and Root Ecology Lab) studies soil and root ecology in agricultural and grassland ecosystems and more broadly landscape-level ecology. She was instrumental in organizing the 2013 CSA Conference at UC Davis.



Patrik Kolar
has been Head of Unit for Food, Health and Well-being from April 2013 until January 2014 and thereafter Head of Unit Agri-food chain at the European Commission.

Bruno Locatelli is a research scientist with CIRAD (Centre for International Cooperation in Agricultural Research) and CIFOR (Centre for International Forestry Research) and the leader of CIFOR research on adaptation to climate change.

Maggie Opondo is one of the founding members of the recently (2011) established Institute of Climate Change and Adaptation ICCA, where she holds the position of socio-economic and cultural studies coordinator. She was an expert reviewer for the IPCC AR4 WG II. She is a coordinating lead author of Chapter 13 of the IPCC AR5 WG II.
Charles Walthall is National Program Leader of the ARS Climate Change, Soils & Air emissions Research Program, (USDA Agricultural Research Service).

Bruce Campbell is Director of the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), and a staff member of the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT).   Kenneth Cassman is Professor of Agronomy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Department of Agronomy and Horticulture. His area of focus is food security and yield gap analysis at local, global, and spatial scales.
  Martial Bernoux is a Senior Soil Scientist at IRD and Research Director at the Joint Research Unit Eco&SOL. He has been acting since 2009 as a FAO consultant to develop the Ex-Ante Carbon-balance Tool (EX-ACT). His main fields of expertise are the evaluation of the soils' role in forest and agricultural ecosystems, in the global climate change context and in carbon sequestration.
Jean-Christophe Glaszmann is the Director of the AGAP (Genetic Improvement and Adaptation of Mediterranean and Tropical Plants) Joint Research Unit of CIRAD. This Unit carries out partnership programs for varietal improvement and creation. It is a leading platform for applied plant biology and genetics.
Renaud Lancelot is a researcher at CIRAD and Deputy Director of the Emerging and Exotic Animal Disease Control Joint Research Unit (CMAEE), where he currently leads the epidemiology team. He also coordinates the FP7 EDENext project on Biology and control of vector-borne infections.

   Thierry Lebel is Head of LTHE, one of the major French Hydrology Lab. A Senior Researcher at IRD, he devoted most of his career to studying climate variability in Africa and its impact on the water cycle and water resources. He was awarded the Constantin de Magny prize of the French Académie des Sciences in 2005 and the CNRS Silver medal in 2010.
Leslie Lipper is a Senior Environmental Economist in the Agriculture and Development Economics Division at FAO. She has developed a program of research on natural resource economics and poverty reduction and has been behind the concept of climate-smart agriculture since its origin. Laurent Sedogo is the Executive Chairman of WASCAL, the West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use, a large-scale research program designed to enhance the resilience of human and environmental systems to climate change and increased variability.

Lini Wollenberg is Research Associate Professor at the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics and Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, University of Vermont. She currently leads a research program on Low Emissions Agricultural Development for CCAFS.
   
Robert Zougmoré
is the West Africa Regional Program Leader for the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS).

Parallel 3
John Beer is the Research and Development Director at CATIE.
CATIE promotes territorial, agroforestry, agroecology and other systems approaches to resolve production, environmental and Climate Change limitations in rural areas, particularly of small and medium farms and the corresponding organizations that serve them.
 
  Philippe Debaeke is senior scientist in the Environment and Agronomy Division of INRA in Toulouse. His main research topics are: adaptation of cropping systems to water availability and to low-input constraints, crop management systems (sunflower), G x E interactions, biotic and abiotic stresses, crop modeling.
  Merylyn Hedger is Research Associate for Climate Change, Environment and Forests at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI). She has worked across all fields of climate change in a large variety of roles and is currently focusing on implementation at a national level. She was also a Convening Lead Author for the IPCC. Mario Herrero is Chief Research Scientist on Food Systems and the Environment at CSIRO in Brisbane, Australia. He has over 20 years of experience working on agriculture and livestock systems, mainly in the developing world. His research looks for solutions to feed the world sustainably in the next 40 years.
Eddy Moors is Head of the Department of Climate Change and Adaptive Land & Water Management at Alterra (Wageningen UR). He is also Extraordinary Professor in Water and Climate at VU University of Amsterdam.
 

Michael Obersteiner is Program Director of the Ecosystems Services and Management at IIASA - International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis.  His research experience stretches from plant physiology and biophysical modeling in the areas of ecosystems, forestry and agriculture, to environmental economics, bioenergy engineering and climate change sciences.

Úrsula Oswald Spring is a full time Professor at the Regional Multidisciplinary Research Centre (CRIM), at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and the first MRF-Chair on Social Vulnerability at the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), and member of IPCC.  

Cynthia Rosenzweig is Senior Research Scientist at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Sudies and is co-leader of the AgMIP (Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project) international program.


Jean-François Soussana
is the Scientific Director for Environment at INRA. He is member of the working group II of IPCC on Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability. He was lead Author for the Third, Fourth and Fith Assessment Reports of IPCC and shared the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2007. He currently leads a large European (FP7) project on livestock and climate change involving four continents.

 

Tim Searchinger works at Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School and at the World Resources Institute where he focuses on food security issues. Trained as a lawyer, Tim Searchinger's work today combines ecology and economics to analyze the challenge of how to feed a growing world population while reducing land use change and greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture.
